4th of July Sugar Cookie Recipe

Yield: 24 cookies

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 10-12 minutes

Total time: 15 minutes

Special equipment: Rolling pin, extra flour, and star cookie cutter (or your favorite festive cookie cutter)

Ingredients:

For the Banana Waffles:

  • 2 pouches Maja's Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 12 tbsp butter
  • 4-6 tbsp milk
  • Optional: 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Toppings: Food dyes and festive sprinkles
  • Instructions:

Begin by preheating your oven to 325° Fahrenheit and line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Next, you can begin to prepare the sugar cookie dough. In a large bowl, beat together the butter and milk with a stand or hand mixer until it becomes creamy. Add in the optional vanilla extract if you are planning to use it! Then, add in Maja's Sugar Cookie Mix and combine until it becomes a dough-like consistency.

Separate the dough into two separate bowls to color the dough. Using your favorite food dyes, add a few drops of the food coloring into each bowl and combine until the dough becomes fully colored. We love the Supernatural Plant-Based Food Colors! You can also add a few tablespoons of festive sprinkles to each bowl to add a little more color and texture. These Supernatural Sprinkles are perfect for the 4th of July!

Take one of the bowls of dough and roll it out on a floured surface (or on parchment paper) with lots of flour. Roll it out until the dough is about ½ inch thick. Use your cookie cutter to cut out the shapes and place them on the lined baking sheets about 1 inch apart. Repeat this process with all the colored dough.

The cookies should bake for about 11-13 minutes or until they become golden brown. Let the cookies cool completely before placing them on the plate. Feel free to add extra sprinkles on top of the cookies for a little more flair!

    Enjoy!
